How We Created Our Updated Demo Video

Creating a demo video seems simple… until you actually sit down to make one. This week, as we refined Lila’s launch materials, I took a step back to look at the journey of how our demo videos have evolved — from those early “eh” drafts to the version we’re building our launch around.

Here’s the process, the learnings, and the creative glow-ups along the way.

The Very First Demo: Figuring Out the Tools (and Myself)

The first demo I ever made was in CapCut on mobile. It was:

  • silent

  • clunky

  • a little chaotic

  • and extremely “first draft energy”

And honestly? That’s exactly what it needed to be.

I had to play with pacing, flow, and basic storytelling without overwhelming myself by adding audio, transitions, and effects all at once. Early versions taught me the most important lesson:

👉 Build demos in layers. When you add everything at the same time, it becomes noise — not story.

So my process became:

  1. Story / structure first

  2. Music second

  3. Finishing touches last

Once I started doing it this way, everything changed.

Finding the Flow: This Week’s Demo Build

This week, when I rebuilt our demo, everything clicked in a way it didn’t before.

The story was clear. The vibe felt right. And the editing became fun instead of exhausting.

Step by step, I layered:

  • Lila’s core narrative: “Upload your vibe → Get styled in seconds”

  • Music that matched the emotional arc

  • Timing adjustments so each moment landed

  • Visual emphasis on key parts of the flow

Suddenly the whole thing felt cohesive — like the product was speaking for itself.

The Zoom Effect That Changed Everything

Huge shoutout to Kat, our social creator, who gave me one of the best suggestions:

“Add slight zoom-ins to highlight the important parts.”

That tiny idea transformed the final video. It pulled attention exactly where it needed to be, added polish, and made the storytelling more intentional.

Creators see what founders sometimes miss, and she deserves full credit for that creative spark.(Seriously, Kat — thank you.)

Goodbye, Watermark: The Moment I Finally Gave In

After exporting the updated version, I had that quintessential founder moment:

“Okay fine. I need to buy the editing license.”

It’s a rite of passage. You play in the free tier until you outgrow it — and then suddenly the watermark feels like it’s taunting you.

But honestly? This feels like leveling up.

Why This Matters for Our Launch

This video isn’t just a demo — it’s the start of how we’re introducing Lila to the world.

A clear story helps people feel the product.A polished flow reflects the experience we want our users to have.A better demo makes everything downstream easier — pitching, content, onboarding.

In other words:The story gets stronger every time we tell it.

And this new demo? It feels like the clearest version of Lila yet.
